The Brief
Our clients approached HYVE to retain and re-configure their existing dwelling to work with contemporary living.

Proposed contemporary family home sympathetically extended from the existing stone walled dwelling.
Sited within a conservation area the original the Coach House was converted to a dwelling over
twenty years ago. Now in need of renovation the client also wanted to create more generous and
open living spaces, more bedroom accommodation and a home workspace with gallery that are
better connected to each other and take advantage of the garden setting.
The kitchen is situated in the new part of the dwelling becoming the hub of the house connected to
the existing granite couch house via a glazed link. The flat roof design and timber cladding on the
new building allows the new building to sit low within the garden and openings have been carefully
considered to maintain privacy and maximise light at different times of day.
