Chapleton Croft, Auchenblae

The Brief

  • The original dwelling was a modest traditional two bedroomed cottage with a very small kitchenette and a  shower room at ground floor level. The brief was to alter and extend the dwelling to provide more spacious family accommodation comprising:
  • A new open plan kitchen/dining/family space
  • Utility room
  • Improved family bathroom
  • Additional bedroom, preferably with an en-suite bathroom

The Design

  • The design solution was to build another “cottage” linked to the original building. The new cottage provides the open kitchen/dining/family space with access to the garden and views over the countryside. In the old dining room, a new separate sitting room now exists. The old shower room has been extended to form a more spacious family bathroom, and the original living room has been converted to a new master bedroom suite with an en-suite bathroom located in the position of the original kitchenette.
